Pretty in Pink J. Crew Lookbook

I love the movie "Pretty in Pink" and recently watched it again on TV.  While walking through J. Crew, I saw these neon pink shorts and they reminded me of the 80's movie and made me smile.  To balance out my bright neon shorts I knew I wanted a neutral top and found this lightweight open weave cotton linen sweater also at J. Crew.  Since both the top and bottom are pretty classic shapes, I paired the outfit with my Barbie Mui Mui shoes, my own jewelry, and my Chanel Mademoiselle bag.  I refer to my shoes as my Barbie shoes because they remind me of my favorite toy from childhood and don't they look like Barbie would have them?

I love to shop at J. Crew for basics in my closet.  My favorites there are typically sweaters, especially cardigans.  They layer and hold up well, and J. Crew does a wonderful job with the little details, even on the simplest silhouettes.  The details I love in my outfit:  the shorts I am wearing look garment dyed and the sweater's open weave makes it light enough to wear for the summer.  The rib on the neck and waist is also well done and doesn't look stretched out when worn.

 They don't have the white color online, but you can easily call J. Crew or go to a nearby store and they should have it.   The pink color would look cute with the shorts too and reminds me of cotton candy.  If your pairing it with the pink shorts, I would wear simple strappy shoes or flats.  Another sweater option is the Tippi Sweater and it comes in 12 colors online including white!

Available in 11 colors online.  I love shorter shorts, but these are also available in the 5" and the 7" China Short in the same color.  A bunch of colors in the various lengths are on sale right now, I like the fit of my shorts so much I am going to order another color myself.

I got my shoes a couple of years ago, but here are some options I would also wear with this outfit.  I love the gold metallic color of this sandal and the price at $150 is affordable.  If I wore these shoes with my outfit, I would switch out the silver necklace with gold bracelets and a small clutch for my bag.

Top 3 things I love in my wardrobe: sequins, skinny jeans, and Louboutins and this outfit has it all!  I recently purchased the best deal off Refinery 29 where I got $300 in value at Rag and Bone for $150.  These cobalt skinny jeans were one of my great purchases and I love the fit and color.  I have been in the search of the perfect colored jeans and when I received them at home I was excited that I loved them more in person than the online pic.  Most of the looks I've seen with colored jeans are with casual white tees or button downs, but I dressed up my look with my favorite sequin top from Gryphon.  

I got my sequin top from Gryphon last year, but Singer 22 has a similar top right now in black.  A great option at a more affordable price point is this Express top for only $49.90.

If you are in search of colored denim, I would truly recommend trying on these Rag and Bone skinny  jeans.  J Brand, Zara, and Forever 21 are offering colored denim right now, but the fit on the Rag and Bone are the best.  Priced at $165 it's a little bit cheaper than the J Brand ones.  I tried the Zara and Forever 21 ones but they didn't fit well and the colors offered weren't saturated well.

Feeling Blue Lookbook and Inspiration

I thought I would post pictures from a shoot during the week of our wedding almost two years ago. Our anniversary is approaching and while I was reviewing our wedding photos to post for Friday, I came upon these and wanted to share them.  Our photographer shot these photos at the beach near Tulum.  I love this turquoise dress by Jay Godfrey and purchased it especially for my rehearsal dinner.  It ended up being perfect for our day after wedding shots.  Seeing these images makes me want to go back to Mexico.  Look out for our wedding pictures on Friday!   Feeling blue and my Jay Godfrey dress, here are some glamorous images I found on pinterest.   I heart this Monique Lhuillier dress!  Wouldn't it also be beautiful as a wedding dress in white? My dress is no longer available but this Halston dress is fabulous.  It is a little pricey at $345, but the look is simple and sexy.  Perfect for a summer wedding or event, the silhouette can be dressed up or down due to it's simple lines.

Alice & Olivia Colorblock Resort 2012 Lookbook

I love Alice & Olivia and came across their Resort 2012 lookbook.  It is full of fun, flirty, colorful pieces that inspire you to take that vacation at the end of the year!  Loving the flowy skirts, bright colors, floppy hats, and colored wedges.  Designer Stacey Bendet, is one my favs, and always does such a great job designing lines that are fun and sexy.  Can't wait to shop the line!  What do you think?

Best Shoe Closets

My fashion obsession is beautiful shoes.  I spend hours pouring over blogs, magazines, and shopping sites because I love fashion, but I love love shoes!  Since I've moved to Chicago, my purchases have been limited but I am headed back to New York in July, so I am already thinking about what my next purchase will be.  My dream is to have the ultimate closet, especially a shoe closet such as these pictures, but for now, I'll have to envy these!

Hello Kitty @ the Taiwan Airport

I am heading back home after several weeks of traveling!   Getting caught up and will resume my blogging activities this week.  Excited to get back to Chicago and enjoy some of the good weather and street fairs my friends have been telling me about.

While in the Taipei Airport, we came across the cutest Hello Kitty gate!  Just had to share.  As a little girl, I adored my Hello Kitty pens, papers, toys, etc.  This gate was so fun and my sister tells me there is actually a Hello Kitty plane!

Taiwan- Part 2 and Casual Purple Lookbook

We spent some time earlier in Lugang visiting my grandfather and my uncle and aunt.  It has been extremely hot and humid so we've been trying to keep cool everyday.  On this particular day, I chose my denim shorts and purple ruffled silk halter top.  Our hotel was pretty modern and had this interesting brick like windows in the landscaping so we took a few lookbook shots.

This is my grandfather's house, he designed the house and was inspired by American homes.  I learned about his talent of art, drawing and designing homes during our trip.   His home is amazing and unlike most in Taiwan.

Denim shorts are a must have in the summer time.  They are easy to dress up or down based on the selection of top and shoes.  Dress up your shorts with a sexy top and a pair of wedges or wear them to the beach with a flowy tunic and sandals.  There are a ton of name brand denim shorts, but these Forever 21 shorts are just as comfy, I love the distressing, and the price is only $16.90!
