Friday night I headed out for a much needed girls night and attended a Chick Chat Little Black Dress for Success event. Jen, one of the founders of Chick Chat in Chicago, reached out to me months ago to be involved. So of course my friends and I joined in on their launch party and t+ j Designs also donated jewelry to their swag bags. I love that Chick Chat is a networking women's group that also helps non-for profit organizations. This event helped raise money and awareness for Dress for Success. Click on the links for more details on how you can be involved, Chick Chat has branches in Seattle, Los Angeles and Chicago.
Regarding my black dress - I purchased it two years ago and haven't tried it on since wearing it for a wedding. I have a strange love and hate relationship for a black dress; it is a essential part of a wardrobe, but I hate buying them. I typically go for sequins, color, and prints. .. .but after putting on my dress again I realized, I need to look for black dresses more often. They are so easy to wear and accessorize. Searching around I found these three that would be perfect additions to my wardrobe and they can be worn year around!
The Vince dress can easily be worn day into night, pop on some jewelry, fancy shoes and purse you can wear this for an evening out. This dress is definitely a blank canvas, from a blazer to a sequined cardigan or trench coat and some boots - you can wear this dress with so many combinations.
Love the classic yet flirty style of the DKNY dress; date night or a wedding it's perfect and don't you love how she paired with leopard shoes?
I saw this Marchesa dress and feel in love! It's designer but the price isn't as bad as I thought.
Do you love a little black dress or do you find them boring?
*My shoes - I recently got them at Nordstrom and on sale! Super comfy and a great price - I'm sure if you ask Nordstrom - they can find you a pair as they are sold out online. B by Brian Atwoods are a great designer shoe for less than designer prices and so far I've seen some cute ones on sale! Check out these 1, 2, 3.

Your hair looks gorgeous here! And your LBD picks are too cute for words.

I don't have many black dresses. I have black hair so if I leave it down sometimes it's too much black.
ReplyDeleteI love that yours has the embellishments though. It makes a LBD more exciting. I also love the Marchesa one.
