Visiting my in-laws and loving all the fields we pass along the way.  Simple outfit for a day out; I got this daisy appliqu├ęd top a while ago and paired it with my black shorts that are my summer staple.  Newly purchased are these fantastic Sam Edelman Sandals; I've been waiting and waiting for these to go on sale and they are now.  They match everything and I love that they are super comfortable.  I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a summer heel.  I got them in bronze, but they also come in gunmetal and persimmon.   All these sales have me over my budget, too many great deals. . . are you guys shopping a ton with all the markdowns going on?

**Have you checked out our new arrivals at t+j Designs?  We have a new collection, Chain Reaction, which you have to take a look at.

Little Black Dress (LBD) Lookbook

Alice + Olivia Dress  |  B by Brian Atwood Heels (in gold) (similar on sale)  |
Tommy Hilfiger Satin Clutch  |

Friday night I headed out for a much needed girls night and attended a Chick Chat Little Black Dress for Success event.  Jen, one of the founders of Chick Chat in Chicago, reached out to me months ago to be involved.  So of course my friends and I joined in on their launch party and t+ j Designs also donated jewelry to their swag bags.  I love that Chick Chat is a networking women's group that also helps non-for profit organizations.  This event helped raise money and awareness for Dress for Success.    Click on the links for more details on how you can be involved, Chick Chat has branches in Seattle, Los Angeles and Chicago.

Regarding my black dress - I purchased it two years ago and haven't tried it on since wearing it for a wedding.  I have a strange love and hate relationship for a black dress; it is a essential part of a wardrobe, but I hate buying them.  I typically go for sequins, color, and prints. .. .but after putting on my dress again I realized, I need to look for black dresses more often.  They are so easy to wear and accessorize.  Searching around I found these three that would be perfect additions to my wardrobe and they can be worn year around!

The Vince dress can easily be worn day into night,  pop on some jewelry, fancy shoes and purse you can wear this for an evening out.  This dress is definitely a blank canvas, from a blazer to a sequined cardigan or trench coat and some boots - you can wear this dress with so many combinations.

Love the classic yet flirty style of the DKNY dress; date night or a wedding it's perfect and don't you love how she paired with leopard shoes?

I saw this Marchesa dress and feel in love!  It's designer but the price isn't as bad as I thought.

Do you love a little black dress or do you find them boring?

*My shoes - I recently got them at Nordstrom and on sale!  Super comfy and a great price - I'm sure if you ask Nordstrom - they can find you a pair as they are sold out online.  B by Brian Atwoods are a great designer shoe for less than designer prices and so far I've seen some cute ones on sale!  Check out these  123.

Black & White Lookbook

Tommy Hilfiger Blazer (Trina Turk for BR version here ) |  Stitch Denim  (similar)  |
Christian Louboutin Pumps  |  Chanel Bag  |
t+j Designs Gunmetal Luxe Braided Necklace  |  Crystal Cuff (adjustable to different wrist sizes!)  |

After all my colored outfit posts I went for a simple black & white look; this outfit is easy to wear and these pieces are classics you should have in your wardrobe in black or white.  Swap out any of the 3 pieces I'm wearing in either color and it still looks put together.

Happy Friday!  Regarding my giveaway for Jordana Silver's pretty flats, thank you to all that entered and the winner is Gabby!

Chicago: My Favorite Places to Dine

I frequently get asked where to dine in Chicago and thought I would put together a list of my favorite places.   Besides shopping and fashion, I LOVE food and eating out.  Here are my top picks:

My top two favorites:
  • Goosefoot - my husband and I recently went and I was floored.  Best food I've had (although I haven't been to Alinea and Next - which are next on my list).  A must go if you are foodie and definitely make your reservation months ahead.  You can make reservations on opentable.com and for the price point of $90 per person and BYOB I say make that reservation today.
  • Girl & the Goat - been here several times and the best way to dine here is with a group of 4 or 6. You can try and share everything on the menu and be adventurous!  One of the best things is the pig face.  I love watching Top Chef and this is Stephanie Izard's restaurant.  Reservations are very, very hard to get on the weekends - go for week nights.
Love the food, scene and decor:
  • GT Fish & Oyster - my definite go to when I want a nice seafood restaurant.  I love the food, fishbowl decor and the chef is incredible nice!
  • Nellcote - opened this year and it's more about the scene & decor but I loved it despite the mixed reviews
  • RPM Italian - food is delicious, inside decor is beautiful and partly owned by Giuliana & Bill Rancic
If you love a small romantic setting and great food:
  • Takashi is in my neighborhood, delicious and a great intimate setting.  On Sunday's only, they serve ramen and the best duck fat fried chicken appetizer.
  • Henri  - my pick for a romantic meal - expensive but great for special occasions.
For groups and easier to make a reservation:
  • Sunda - fun, yummy and location is great if you want to go to other restaurants and bars in River North after
For casual lunch and must go to Chicago places:
  • Xoco - love Rick Bayless and all his places but this is my favorite.  Be prepared for a line
  • Portillo's - some go for the famous hot dogs, but I go there for my favorite italian beefs!
  • Lots of pizza options, deep dish being the Chicago favorite:  Gino's East, Lou Malnati's, Uno's and Pequod's (my favorite)

There are many, many places to eat and I could probably go on for a while (and I'm sure I forgot one of my favorites and will remember once I hit publish), but these are typically the places I recommend to people.  On the top of my list to try next is Alinea.

If the above is booked or not what you are looking for, try The Publican, Longman and Eagle, Avec, or Vera.  This is Chicago Magazine's top 20 best new restaurant list here for more suggestions.

For drinks and rooftop bars, Refinery 29 had a great feature here.

If your visiting, a MUST TO DO is the Chicago architectural tour, check out my post on it here.

For more readers who are used to my lookbooks - I'll be back tomorrow!

Rag & Bone Skinny Denim (love the neon pink ones here)  |
Chanel Bag  |  Pour La Victoire Irina Pumps  (on sale for $120!) |

Playing with a lot of color and keeping my shoes and accessories neutral.  We are in a heat wave in Chicago, but we had a cooler day last week when I wore this.  Keeping busy with my little guy.  I can't believe he hits two months next week.  Time is flying and he has recently learned to smile; every morning he looks at me and has the largest smile I've ever seen.  I can't explain how I feel when he does it, but it is amazing.  My sister took these shots of him; my cutie Grant at 7 weeks.  Thank you Tiff - these will be cherished forever!

For those of you that checked out my post from yesterday, I found the Elizabeth and James Black Blazer with feathers for 65% off!

Shop Sale! J. Crew and Miu Miu's!

I recently went shopping with my sister and saw so many great deals.  I wish Tiff and my mom lived closer to me; miss our shopping times together and now with Grant - it would be so nice to have my family closer.

On the top of my covet list has been this Elizabeth and James blazer and I finally splurged and got it.  There's something about the feathers and it being white that I love but of course I'll have to be extra careful about getting it dirty.  The size O is in stock here and size 6, 8 here.  It is looking like sizes are going fast and hard to find.  Excited to wear this soon.

J. Crew is having an additional 30% sale right now and of course my favorite Blythe Blouse is on sale again.  Check out my favorites below:

Shop J. Crew here and don't forget to enter the code!

At Nordstrom, I saw an array of designer shoes on sale and you should have seen the excitement on my face when I found a pair of Miu Miu's with glitter and 60% off!  I got the first pair pictured below in a bright sequin cobalt blue.

Shop Miu Miu's here!  The first and third shoe are 60% off and below $300.

Happy shopping!  Are you guys finding great deals?

Picnic Lookbook

Celine Mini Luggage Tote  |  Christian Louboutin Pumps  |

I feel in love with this skirt on Asos a while back and then saw it on a stylish girl when I was pregnant. I instantly had fashion envy and decided to take the plunge and buy the skirt although I was 8 months pregnant.  Irrational yes, but how happy am I now that I can sport this gingham skirt :)?  When I came down the stairs, my husband said, "Are you going to a picnic?" It may be one of those fashion items that men don't understand, but I still love.    Tablecloth or skirt, it's a great summer piece!

Do you own anything your significant other doesn't understand as a fashion item?

Casual Cobalt Lookbook

Zara Clutch  |  Zara Sandals  |
Gold Faux Stack Bangle (one of my favorites and great for small wrists)

The Blythe blouse is one of my favorite J. Crew items; in my closet are three of these shirts and I stalk the sale constantly looking for more.  Silk dyes beautifully and J. Crew always does such an excellent job with their color choices. I found this color last week on the sale rack and was excited that they had my size.  Hoping the bright yellow or purple goes on sale soon!

I had a blogger/girlfriend get together last night since my sister is in town from Seattle.  It was so great to introduce her to some great people I've met in Chicago through blogging.  The connections made through blogging here in Chicago have been amazing.  It definitely helped me feel more comfortable in a city where I didn't know too many people.  If you blog, have you made some fantastic connections through it?  I'll be sure to share some photos next week.

Happy Friday!

Fierra Dress Lookbook

Alice and Olivia Dress  |  Target Hat  |  Louis Vuitton Bag  |
Guiseppe Zanotti Sandals  (love these and these - both on sale) |

One of my most comfortable dress purchases for the summer, it is lightweight, easy to wear and I like that it hides a little bit of weight.   I definitely recommend it for those who are trying to stay cool in hot weather.  Alice and Olivia makes the Fierra Dress in a bunch of different colors, besides the color I have on, I like the ones below:

                                          1}  |                    2}          |          3}  Love this style too in the Teal

Along with these colorful numbers is the launch of the Highlighter Collection.  If you've been following me on instagram (Red Soles and Red Wine), you would have seen sneak peaks of me wearing this collection.  I'm loving all the bright colors.  Take a look here.

Cool Cobalt Lookbook

Zara Dress (love this one that is similar)  |  Christian Louboutin Pumps  |  Chanel Bag  |
t+j Designs Silver Hammered Bangle Set  |  Yellow Oval Drop Necklace to launch this week!

Staying cool in our 90 degree weather with a cobalt blue Zara dress.  It was so nice to have a relaxing weekend after a busy week with the Today Show feature.  I couldn't ask for a better couple of months; the birth of my son, my jewelry line featured on the Today Show, being mentioned as the top 5 Chicago fashion blogs by Corri McFadden and this week my living/dining room is being photographed for a small article in a Chicago magazine.  In addition, my sister is coming to visit!   Life is great and I couldn't ask for anything more.  Well, maybe more sleep :).

For those of you wondering how my little Grant is doing, he is wonderful.  Can't believe he is 7 weeks old.  I made the mistake of letting him sleep with me in our bed and now he won't sleep in his bassinet.  Working on getting him to sleep at night in his bed and not mine.

Corri McFadden of eDrop-off: Top 5 blogs

I loved watching Corri McFadden running her empire on VH1's House of Consignment;  she is beautiful, smart and successful.  I was so honored that she mentioned my blog in her recent interview on her pick for  Chicago's top 5 fashion blogs.  I blogged all through my pregnancy and never stopped; I work hard and love what I do, but sometimes I wonder why people read my blog and I doubt myself.  My consistent readers are so encouraging and the last few months have been wonderful, but it still feels amazing to hear others love what I do.

Thank you Corri and thank you readers!

Parisian Chic Lookbook & Jordana Silver Shoe Giveaway

Zara Polka Dot Top  |  BCBG Skirt  |  Celine Mini Luggage Tote  |

Most of you know that I rarely wear flats; this is a rare occasion that in one week I show two looks wearing flat shoes!  I have to admit my husband was correct, once the baby arrived it was harder to wear my beautiful heels everywhere, especially if I carry him and his car seat.  The risk of dropping him or me falling is too great so I've invested in a few flats that I think are fashionable.

Every closet should have a pair of basic black ballet slippers - easy to wear and a classic style that can be worn forever.  I was so excited to come across Jordana Silver's site and I fell in love with her shoes and her bisous (shoe clips).  What a fabulous idea - one pair of black ballet slippers and an offering of different bisous (shoe clips) to match your mood and outfit.  I've been wearing them around and the shoes are super comfortable and I love the toe shape (which differentiates an inexpensive pair of ballet flats with nice ones).

I love supporting women entrepreneurs as I also own my own business.  So I definitely had to share her beautiful product with my readers.  What is even better, Jordana has offered to GIVEAWAY a pair of shoes and the winner's pick of a bisous!  Over $200 in value.  Who doesn't love a free pair of adorable shoes?!

Here are the ways to enter:

1)  Check out Jordana Silver's website and let me know if you won which bisous would you like!
3)  Follow me on google connect, reader and/or bloglovin
