This fall, snakeskin is a big trend and this Equipment top is a recent addition to my wardrobe.  My closet is full of animal prints, especially leopard items.  When choosing my animal printed items, I veer towards a classic silhouette, and a sophisticated pattern.  Animal prints can look inexpensive, so opt for nice fabrics such as silk and simple shapes.  Some of my leopard items are 7 years old and they still look current.  Equipment tops are expensive however the classic button down, silk fabric, and quality fit makes them worth the cost.  This top will look great with my faux leather leggings, pencil skirt and jeans.

I'm a HUGE fan/shopper of Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack and I was so excited when Nordstrom Rack asked me to be part of a styling challenge.  The challenge?  To put together three head to toe looks for $500 or less with three themes.  In addition, incorporate fall trends within the look.  The first look was to show how I would glam up my look for game day.  Out of the three themes, this was the hardest for me.  I wanted to look cute, glam, but comfortable if I were going to a game or watching the game at bar. Supporting the Chicago Bears with the colors of orange and navy, but adding in fashion touches with the cheetah print denim, studs on my booties, and a gold necklace, I felt game day ready.

Three outfits with head to toe looks (including shoes) on a budget was so much fun.  While shopping for my looks I found deals on contemporary designers such as Alice + Olivia, Elizabeth and James, Rachel Zoe, LAMB, and DVF.  The selection was amazing and I was in the shoe department for over 2 hours.  If you follow me on instagram (redsolesandredwine) you might have seen my photos of my finds there.

My favorite trend this season?  Anything leather and faux leather; from outerwear to bottoms as well as apparel pieced with leather I obviously love it all as seen by this outfit.  I veered away from colored leather so far and stuck to classic black pieces.  Easy to wear and outfit with other items in my closet, these pieces are my style - on trend yet wearable for years.

If you've been in search for a comfy bootie, this is the one.  I've been on the lookout for a bootie for years and didn't want to spend the money on Louboutins I loved; spotted a month ago were these booties.  With the weather change I finally got to pull them out.

Fall Must Haves

It certainly feels like fall in Chicago; it's a little chillier and the leaves are turning colors.  Although I'm sad to see summer go, I get super excited about fall fashions.  I'm inspired by fashion week, shopping, street style photography, magazines, and pinterest.  Although I love trends, I budget shop for those items and then splurge on a couple of items that are on trend but will last for years.   These are my top 4 picks for the season and hopefully you'll see me styling on the blog soon.

Vacation Looks & Recap

I thought I would share some of my vacation looks from last week.  With it being the end of summer, I had to wear some of my favorite items again before fall sets upon us.  Can you believe it's mid September already?

My first look was casual and on my way to the pool sans makeup.

Had so much fun I lost my sunglasses in one of the water rides.  So. .  I need to buy some new ones.  Good thing these were my Forever 21 sunglasses :)!

This Three Floor Dress was one of my favorites this summer.  I wore it to the last dinner we had for my husband's company.  They beautifully decorated the table and the special musical guest was Seal!

It was an incredible vacation and the perfect way to end the summer.  

Vacation - Atlantis

If you follow me on instagram (@redsolesandredwine) or twitter, you got a glimpse of my past week.  It was my first real vacation in a while, without our little Grant, and it made me truly relax and appreciate all things great in my life.  My husband was awarded this trip through his company due to his fantastic year; he has been an incredible support and I'm so proud of all his hard work.  He definitely deserved the trip and I was excited to accompany him!

We stayed at the Cove Atlantis, beautiful beaches, pools and one of our favorite parts was the water park open to all hotel guests.

His company provided nice dinners and also a few private concerts.  Bruno Mars was one of the main events.  Not only do I love his songs, but he was beyond excellent in person!  He is a tiny guy, but that voice is pretty amazing.

Beyond missed my little guy but sleeping in, laying out, getting a tan and not working was a dream.
