Glam Mommy and Sons Photo Shoot & GIVEAWAY!

Black Tie Dress, Alyce Paris Dress, Holiday looks for a photo shoot, Mom and Son Photo shoot, Mom and Son what to wear for holiday card

Earlier this month we shot these beautiful photos with the talented Brooke  and they came out exactly how I envisioned. A glam editorial shoot with my handsome guys with a beautiful backdrop outdoors.  I plan on using some of these photos for my holiday cards this year and yes, I planned much earlier than last year. Brooke turned the photos around to me in less than 24 hours, which is amazing for those looking for holiday card shots now through November!

At the end of this post you can enter to win your own session with Brooke! (You must be around the Chicago area.)  SUPER EASY TO ENTER BELOW!

Life with two boys is an adventure with lots of laughs, smiles, and an abundance of energy.  There are a few things I have learned about being a mommy to boys and the one question I dislike being asked . . .

As a mommy to two boys, I get asked quite often, “Are you having a third? You NEED to have a girl” and I was asked this question even while pregnant with my second. I understand the urge to ask, but it is a question I dislike.  I know as a very girly girl, I get asked because others want me to share a bond of my passions with a girl. As my boys have grown and the world around me is (at times) hard to understand, I am in love with the fact I have my two boys and it doesn’t bother me (anymore). It was a big focus for me and many others to have this “girl” but experiencing their brotherhood, healthy and smart bodies growing, and everyday energy in life, I’ve grown myself.  I still share my girly things, I still dress up, I still wear heels, and I want them to embrace it as well.

I know about super hereos, power rangers, ninja turtles, fighting, wrestling, but I also experience loud laughter and “boyish” tendencies I would have never known about.  They tackle me (softly), they have SOOO much energy, so they get my butt up, AND I find what they see so interesting as I knew nothing about their favorite things before having them.  I’m learning and enjoying it all!

My oldest loves to talk, dance, meet new people and goes a mile a minute.  His killer smile and his charming ways makes it easy for him to make friends. He is opinionated and loves a good super hero movie, power ranger show, and has taught me to be more present. He sees things and notices my feelings, and wants me to find joy in everything we do.

He has a love of rocks and gems because of what my job and it’s awesome. He asks about crystals, diamonds, gems and how they are made.  It’s been wonderful sharing my passion with him.

My youngest is sweet, kind, and super shy with strangers.  He loves his brother more than anything but is a fighter when he gets pushed :). He loves Cars the movie, a good paw patrol show and has taught me to be more loving and affectionate (which melts my heart). He holds my hand at random times and gives me this huge grin when he is happy or needs something. He is just a sweetie.

He loves to watch me put on makeup. He puts powder on my nose and smiles and smells my perfumes. It’s great sharing time together while I get ready.

My boys have taught me to be ok with a little mess, pee on the seat (still working on this), laugh from my belly, wrestle a little, used to high energy playing, and to be more patient. I recently watched my niece who quietly played and smiled, while my boys ran around circles of my parent’s house, and loudly talked about fart and poop.  I just laughed and embraced their silly, loud ways.  They can push my buttons but in a second they laugh it off and run to me with a hug so tight I can’t breathe.  Right now I’m their favorite girl and woman in their life. I’m the princess in the family. I’m more than ok with it and love it all. I hope to teach them to be great men, kind, loving, and respectful. As we journey in life together it is very important that they learn to maneuver the world with love, to listen, to understand differences, and to be smart in life.

To mom’s of only boys, be the queen of the castle, enjoy the boys opening doors, being loud, and treasure the differences!
