ROOMS:
There’s 41 private villas on the property and each has a deck, outdoor shower, high thatched roof, hammock, and plunge pool. Our wonderful villa had a pool and ocean view, walk in closet, and a beautiful bathtub (as seen in the photo above). It was one of the biggest rooms I’ve stayed in with 1700 square feet. It was perfect for us (three girls that went) and I would highly recommend the ocean view villa. Compared to other properties I’ve gone to in Mexico, I absolutely love the intimate feel of the room yet so much space. Luxury all the way with soft sheets, the most beautiful bathroom with two sinks and a shower inside and outside with a killer bathtub. The walk in closet was a big plus for us girls that brought so many clothes :).
SERVICE:
I can’t say enough about the service. Kind, attentive, and with the property being small, we got to know the staff! We saw them daily and loved it. From room service to pool service to spa, they were amazing. Every single staff encountered was kind and had a smile on their face.
Three people came to do the bathtub set up and they were so detailed. The service is the perfect amount of attention. I wish every hotel was like that! When we were going to check out of our room, there was already a guy outside our room waiting to help us with our luggage. We had not called for help so this was amazing service.
RESTAURANTS AND FOOD:
There are two main places to eat. The Coral Bar and Grill was where we dined everyday for breakfast and lunch. It was so yummy. From tacos to fajitas, the food was fresh and delivered to us within 30 minutes. We also had dinner there and the fajitas were my favorite. Easy, casual and right by the pool, it is an easy option for food.
La Marea is the second place to dine. More formal of a setting featuring Mexican cuisine with Mediterranean influences. We went here on our second night and it was delicious. I would go here more than once if I could, but with us three girls the more casual setting was easiest. If you love seafood like I do, this is a definite must try restaurant.
There aren’t a ton of restaurants on the property but with only 41 villas, I didn’t expect a plethora of places. The focus was on high quality food with a great menu. I never felt I was missing anything and a couple we got to know would order off the menu. Once again, service was great.
POOL:
One beautiful pool with the temperature perfectly cool. Most of the first couple of photos above are of the pool area. It was easy to get a chair daily (these were the higher end luxe chairs) and around the pool were towels and hats for guests to use.
BEACH:
Like any beach down there, there is seaweed – I’m not a huge beach person so we went down for photos and little walks but I preferred the pool. I love the cabanas and huts they had on the beach, but overall the water had a lot of seaweed inside the ocean floor.
SPA:
The spa offered many services and I opted for an outdoor deep tissue massage . It was one of the best ones I had and she helped me get all the knots out of my back.
The locker room had large drawers for my items and was even personalized with my name. Steam room with scrub was amazing. Overall, it was a very intimate experience (no one else was there). As guests you are able to use the spa facility anytime.
OVERALL PROPERTY:
I highly recommend Viceroy Riviera Maya for couples and small groups. I go to Cancun, Riviera Maya about once a year. This is a luxe experience that is perfect for relaxation. If you are searching for a pool with loud music, drinks galore, and fun times, this isn’t the place I would recommend. For an intimate stay, to clear your mind and enjoy who you are with, and get away from the hustle and bustle this is the perfect spot.
Look out for a style recap this week of vacation pieces I loved!
