There are a ton of apps out there for Instagram, photo editing, and for stories! Most of us all love Snapchat filters and I still see many post them in Instagram stories, however, I would say over 90% of the time I use these to help me edit photos and create cute Instagram stories. See below for my favorites and they are SUPER EASY to use. I’m not patient in figuring out apps (which is why I list a few honorable mentions, but they are harder to use), so with my recommendations of the below you’ll see that once downloaded, it takes nothing to figure this out! I’ll scale each one from 1-10 with 10 being the most difficult to use!
1: Tezza – Tezza is one of my favorite Instagram accounts – she is so talented and I started following her when I found her presets and her account. She has amazing photography and editing skills. She launched her app earlier this year and I think everyone has it downloaded. I use the vintage filter a lot but for $1.99 you have access to all the filters she has developed.
Ease of use: 3 (sometimes you still have to adjust the photo after using the app, but most of the time, it is the smallest tweaks).
2: Foodie -this app not only takes the best photos of food, I know several people that use it to shoot themselves! Brightens and filters as well with the swipe of your hand after a photo is taken. I primarily use it for food as I love how it pops the colors out!
Ease of use: 2 (I use this app for food in my stories and hardly after to edit the photo after using a filter)
3: Facetune – let’s talk magic to everything. It can smooth your face, legs (really anything), make you slimmer (if you don’t care about people talking behind your back) and also has edits as well! Let’s face it if an Instagrammer tells you she isn’t using it she is lying, lol! I patch boots, walls etc if there is a mark or hole, I smooth out my skin cause I like the look of it better, and I use the filters sometimes but I find them harder to use. I think every lady I know has this app downloaded.
Ease of use: 5 (smoothing is easy, but patching, filtering, if you want to make yourself skinnier, editing, all takes more practice)
4: Afterlight – so this app lets you adjust the photo in all aspects (contrast, exposure, warm tones, soft tones etc) but is easier to use than Lightroom or Snapseed and was one of the first apps I downloaded to help me edit my photos. It does take some practice and I adjust each aspect of the photo. Since I’ve had Hannah take most of my photos I don’t use it as much now. If I do take an iPhone photo, I will upload it to Tezza, than sometimes Afterlight to darken it or brighten it as that function isn’t on her app. Using multiple apps to get the perfect edited photos is often done.
Ease of use: 6 ( I don’t think it’s that hard but a little more than Facetune).
5: Unfold – I use this app for my Insta-stories. I love the different layouts and you can purchase other layouts as well in the app. Different videos and photos can be slotted in to make it interesting for your readers. I do these when I do my blog posts on my stories hoping my followers will swipe up!
Ease of use: 2
6: Snow – this Korean app is awesome! So many ways to do photos, boomerangs, stories, and videos within. It also makes you super pretty :). It can thin out your face, make your skin look smooth, basically it is the pretty filter on one app for photo and video. There’s a ton of formats and it’s similar to Snapchat and unfold in one, but the backgrounds are more playful. I have issues with the video recording from time to time, but overall this is a favorite when I remember to use it!
Ease of use: 4 (take some experimenting to get it down and looking good, depending on your aesthetics). Super fun to figure out.
7: Huji cam: Think disposable camera from 1998, vintage, cool and it has been downloaded 16 million times and only launched this year. It’s super fun and when you first open it you have to put your eye to it for the lens to open up to shoot it.
Ease of use: 2 (at first you can’t figure out how to even take the photo, but once you do it’s easy).
Honorable mentions: Kira Kira (I love this for sparkly videos), Snapseed, Lightroom and Hype Type.
Do you guys use any of the above? Any favorites I missed?
A Color Story is pretty great too!
