I did a poll on Instagram asking you guys what you wanted to know about me and these are the top questions I got asked! A fun Q&A of things and feel free to shoot me an email if you have more questions! I tried to answer the ones most often asked.
#1 For a first-time mom, quick and easy advice to look good and fashionable with little effort.
I gave this tip before in this post (Tips of Juggling Life), but shower the night before and dry your hair quickly so that in the mornings you don’t feel rushed. Items I think should have in your closet to easily get ready and feel stylish?
Great pair of denim, cami, tee shirt, sweater, leather jacket, fabulous coat, and Addidas sneakers.
The denim, cami and tee shirt can be layered with cardigans, jackets, coats. My Addidas sneakers are the only real flat shoes I wear year round and are perfect with anything.
Fit is extremely important and keep it simple. I splurge on the denim and jackets.
As for makeup, lipstick is my go-to for brightening up my face and light powder. Getting dressed and made up should take less than 20 minutes!
#2 How long have I been married?
For those of you who just started following me, read this post (and there are other updates) to know why I’m no longer married. I was married for almost 9 years.
#3 Where do I get fashion inspiration?
Everywhere! I’m a huge fan of fashion week runway shows, magazines, Instagram (I love following inspirational accounts). There isn’t one person or thing I look at for all my inspiration. I am obsessed with fashion and have been since I was a little girl.
#4 What is my favorite Home Chef Meal I’ve cooked so far?
Our favorite has been the teriyaki salmon! I’ve done white wine chicken, banh mi, and a steak, and all of them have been delicious. My youngest loves to cook and he asks me to cook home chef with me once a week! It has been a life changer for us and one of my favorite collaborations this year.
#5 Where you do you get affordable stylish warm winter coats?
I look for two things for winter, faux fur, and a good puffer. I live in Chicago and it gets COLD. For faux fur, look for good quality fabrication, fit, and color. There are such great fabrics now in faux fur! For a puffer, you must try it on and I always go for fitted. If you don’t, you’ll feel heavier. These are some I love at a great price.
#6 Where do I get facials and who is my dermatologist?
Leah Chavie is amazing and the only one I’ve gone to the last year. She has helped me ease into aging, reduce my breakouts and is the sweetest. Support a local businesswoman entrepreneur!
For skincare, Image Skincare has been my favorite and this Vital C Overnight Masque is literally the best thing I’ve ever done. I do it EVERY night. I wake up and my skin is glowing.
#7 Where are the must-shop places in Chicago?
My absolute favorite is Ikram, it’s an incredible place with high-end designers in a beautiful space. I go there for inspiration and I may not be able to afford things in there but it is a must see! We have a ton of luxury shops I love including Christian Louboutin, Dior, Barney’s and Burberry.
Most of the time, I recommend food places when people visit :). RL, Eataly, Maple and Ash. I would love to do a separate post for food soon!
#8 Who are my style influences?
Jennifer Lopez is goals, Olivia Culpo, my mom (she has always been my inspiration).
#9 How do I stay skinny?
It is all genes. I have been blessed with a high metabolism and I eat every 3 hours. But overall, I don’t do as much as I should. I also don’t eat HUGE meals and I’m not a snacker or a dessert lover.
I took a dance class last week and it was amazing. My goal is to do this twice a week and get back into toned shape.
#10 How did I start my business?
This question could be a whole blog post and I’ll try to do it next month! I created T&J Designs due to my love of fashion, background in merchandising and my sister and I were looking to do something together. Since we both blog and people were buying what we posted, it was perfect timing! This year, we decreased our responsibilities in it to focus on our social media work, but it’s still up and we are selling through our jewelry inventory.
#11 Do I have doubts about raising my kids in the city?
I grew up in the suburbs, but I never saw myself growing up to live in one. I try hard to see the pluses in everything and my kids are definitely city kids. They love that we walk to parks, restaurants, high rises and they don’t know the difference. They love their school and friends. For right now, it’s still perfect. I can’t predict the future, but as long as they are happy, I’m being a great mom and plan out activities, I believe they are in the right place. Chicago is one of the easiest cities to raise a family (compared to SF and NY where I lived). Target, the grocery store, parks, indoor or outdoor play centers, plays, musicals, concerts are all nearby and we enjoy it all.
#12 Do I have family in Chicago and if not, do I plan on staying in Chicago?
I don’t have family here and honestly if my ex wasn’t from Illinois I would consider moving. But for now, for my kids, I’m staying in Chicago.
#13 What is my favorite solid color to wear to give leopard a pop?!
Red! A red pump is my favorite and second to that is a red handbag!
#14 What are my favorite white booties of the season?
I have a pair of white pointy boots and love them. These are affordable favorites!
#15 What are three ways to describe me?
Loyal, honest, and outgoing
Loved this post! I’m able to know the women behind the incredible fashion!
