Jeans (Denim) are my favorite item to wear every day. Since I work for myself, my favorite go-to outfit is a great pair of denim and a cute top. In the Fall and Winter, I layer with jackets and coats, but the most important part of the outfit is a pair of denim that fits well, has a great wash, and makes me feel good.
I own 3 of these shown on this post and they are by far my favorite brand. At the bottom are tips on what I do to find a great pair in the comfort of my home.
*I’m wearing a size 26 (in all pairs) and they all fit true to size. I wore the same top and shoes for the post so you can see the denim differences on me. Shop it on the widget.
The Agolde Sophie High Rise denim above (one I own) has a great dark wash, fits below the belly button, and material is a little stiffer. I love how it sucks me in a little tighter as the denim is stiffer. If you like stretchy these may not be your preference. The big plus, they don’t stretch out so around my knees, butt, etc they keep the shape.
These were a straighter fit and a bestseller for Levi’s. I loved the distressing, the light wash is a neutral wash and the high waist hits at the perfect spot below the belly button. This denim is a great price and I feel like would fit most people really well. For me, my legs are skinny and I have no butt, so this denim didn’t look the best. I like my legs to have a better fit and my butt looked flat. But I’ve seen these on other bloggers and love them on others.
Obsessed with these and keeping them! Love the lighter wash, slim fit, where it hits on my belly button sucks in my stomach well and allows me to wear cropped items without showing my stomach, and since I love wearing bodysuits this would pair well with it as well. I like to feel sucked in when wearing bodysuits as my tummy area is the area I hate. Definitely, recommend these!!
How cool are these? Fits the waist well (slimmer waist look) and the perfect boyfriend loose look on the legs. The distressing is perfect and I rolled up the bottom for the look I like. These are fantastic. My recommendation in wearing boyfriend denim is not to wear anything too loose on top (as you’ll look bigger). Wear a fitted sweater, great classic white tee tucked in, or a slightly cropped item like above. This pair is super comfortable and easily wearable on all body types.
I wear these a ton and have had them for 1.5 years! These are the stretchiest of the pairs above and probably the most comfortable. I love to travel in these as they feel like leggings but are denim. Once again sucks my stomach in and I wear this pair with bodysuits and cropped tops often. The wash is medium dark and absolutely my favorite pair.
My favorite tips for finding the right denim for you:
#1) Don’t be afraid to buy 5-6 pairs and get them online delivered to your home for a try on in the comfort of your home. I do this to find the right pair and I return them the same day in the box so that I don’t need to worry about the charges.
#2) One pair of denim over $100 is better than 3-4 pairs at $30 that you won’t love after a year.
Splurge on one pair of denim you can wear 3-4 times a week. It’s ok to rewear your jeans!
#3) Read reviews and descriptions – that is how I decide what size to buy online. If the model looks tiny and it says she is wearing a 25 – I know to size up.
#4) Think about what you normally wear on top (what’s your go-to top) and pair it with all the denim you are trying to see if you like the look. That way the pair you keep will be a go-to as well.
#5) Comb your hair and put on a little makeup, this may sound silly, but looking good feels better in trying anything on. You’ll get a better idea what you’ll feel like or look like headed out. If you look and feel shitty, you’ll hate everything you wear!
Let me know if you try or buy any of the ones I recommend! Below is a collage you can pin or shop from (just scroll over the denim to shop it). xoxo Happy week.
