I’m an avid online shopper but pretty much live my life online. I’ve been crazy shopping online these days and on my computer and phone all day. {1} Passwords: Use unique, strong passwords for every account and if possible, save them with a password manager!

I’m sure like me, you have tons of accounts and you use very similar passwords, which increases all of our security risks. It is a struggle to have a different password for every account, but I learned that there is a built-in one in our Google Account!! The password manager helps create, remember, and store all the passwords.  Amazing right? So easy and FREE. go to passwords.google.com

Another tip: don’t open accounts on the same website with different emails but the same password – the increase of doing this and using the same password for all your shopping accounts means a higher risk

{2} Updates: Keep our software up to date

Make sure to always run the latest version of software for all your devices. I typically try to have it on automatic updates, so I don’t have to worry that I’m behind. On my laptop, I have a notification system that makes sure I’m notified to update any updates. I am known to click “remind me later” which I learned is a big no-no, try to update software right away as they are released for a reason and to prevent any vulnerabilities that are out there currently.

{3} Take the Google Security Checkup (I did this!)

I was not aware of this FREE security checkup and this is a MUST DO. It took less than a minute and told me what sites had my information (since I blog full time, it was interesting to see all the agencies hooked up to my data). The Google Security Checkup is a step-by-step tool that helps protect the security of your Google Account with personalized recommendations. You can manage third-party apps access to your account data, check saved passwords for security issues and more! So easy, go > g.co/securitycheckup
