I am so excited to reveal my new bedroom design with you all and my secret to getting this gorgeous design for under $200! Check it out below and stay tuned as I have more home room reveals coming soon!
My room before was really bare and the before was actually after I already got the best bedsheets – it didn’t look like this before (I only had a white bedsheet with two decorative pillows. I started with the main furniture items like my bed frame, two side tables, and a dresser. I needed help to achieve the overall aesthetic I was going for and to accessorize it. I’m not great at space/size and little decorative touches for it to look finished and I knew I wanted wallpaper or something on the back wall. Enter Hannah from August Jane Interior Design to be just the person I needed to help me with this project. She is lovely and the best! Read more below.
My before – I didn’t have the bedsheets or furry rug either. It justs looked unfinished and needs some love.

Read below on how we got to this design process and how Hannah came up with this amazing PDF below.
DESIGN PROCESS:
Hannah is the interior designer and founder of August Jane Interior Design. She has an incredible eye for detail, made the whole entire process so seamless and truly turned my ideas and style into a realistic, affordable and gorgeous design. She offers E-Design services with options whether you already own a few pieces that you’d like to incorporate into your final project design, or are starting with a blank slate. The whole process is really simple and is only $199 per room!
I started by speaking on the phone to discuss initial details, she sends over a questionnaire which enables her to figure out your style, your budget, etc. It’s super easy and informative on both ends. Measurements of the room, my Pinterest board of home design, and a video and photographs of my room were passed to Hannah. I spent some time really figuring out what style I was looking for and she helped me figure out I wanted a Parisian Glam themed bedroom. I’m single – I wanted to do everything I loved as I’m sleeping in this beautiful room every night.
Hannah is available by phone, text, or email and we discussed frequently what I loved and what I wanted to be changed. We went through a few changes (I changed out the curtain color, the actual lamps I bought, and a few things here and there) and we settled on the high gloss black wall behind my bed.
DIY WAINSCOTING:
Since I had already had the majority of my furniture, Hannah helped me by creating concept design boards filled with accessories, furnishings and paint colors. As you can see below, I ended up going with the option with the black wall and faux wainscoting. So this is something I would NEVER have come up with as I didn’t even know there was faux wainscotting. Wainscoting is expensive (I looked it up online), but the way that Hannah told me to do it was inexpensive and completely looks like real wainscoting.
Here is the PDF she submitted on where to put things and the steps we took to get the results.
STEPS TO GET THE WAINSCOTING LOOK
Note: make sure you know the measurement of your walls and what type of panels you want. Big/small/how many. Hannah actually told me exactly what to buy and how many. See below for the links. So easy and cheap.
Step 1: Paint the back wall. We used high gloss black paint from Benjamin Moore in the shade “Black”. Let dry for over 24 hours
Step 2: Paint the faux wainscot panels (needs two coats) and let dry for over 24 hours. The panels and the velcro are all available for cheap on Amazon.
Shop panels here. (Or set of 4 here) I used size 24″W x 28″H
Step 3: Ensure the measurements, velcro and set up! Of course, this takes a few hours. The velcro literally goes up on the wall and the mounting and you press – voila! And easy to remove if you ever move!!
Note: I hired a painter and my friend’s boyfriend did the wainscotting. If you are in Chicago and need someone to do both, I highly recommend Ricky (email me); he was inexpensive and did it all!
The other app I love is “Handy” but you’ll pay a much higher price.

Final design and links:
Once you decide on the final design, she gives you an excel sheet with all of the items and the links to purchase them. I love this as then I could order the items on my own timeline and it was more flexible with my budget instead of everything upfront. I am so happy with how the room turned out and Hannah did an amazing job throughout the entire process.
Check out some more photos below of the final reveal of my room and links to shop everything used to create the look!
BED LINENS:
I have to give a shout out to Crane and Canopy for the most gorgeous duvet comforter and shams. They are so luxurious and I just love them Shop the set below:
Linden Black Border Duvet Cover and Shams
Black Lines Embroidered Sheet Set
Linenspa Quilted Comforter – I am OBSESSED with my comforter and it was only $26 from Amazon! You can not get a better deal for this amazing quality. I highly recommend it.
28×28″ Faux Pillow Inserts – Another great Amazon find and so much cheaper ($30) than getting these at Pottery Barn, etc.
20×20″ Faux Pillow Inserts – Set of two from Amazon for only $30!
I love these lamps and ended up swapping them for the initial pick from my concept board as they were so affordable and I loved the gold accent.
