Am I in quarantine mode? Yes! Am I going crazy because of it? Yes! I’m an extrovert and adventure seeker and being stuck at home is hard. I’m sure you guys are all going through the same emotions. Of course, I want the world to be safe, of course, I want my kids to be safe, so I know all this is for the best, but being around people, being out at events, restaurants, etc are my favorite things to do. Gosh, I’ll definitely walk away from this experience with a brand new appreciation of freedom and love for regular life.
This week, I did an Instagram live with a friend and I know some people missed it. I thought it would be fun to put together some questions and answers that we addressed as well as share some other random facts about me. Sooooo here goes!
{1} When did you start blogging?
I started about 8 years ago, moved here for my ex, quit my job in NY and wanted friends and some type of hobby to keep me moving. My background is in fashion, so I blogged about my style. Through this journey, I have met many friends, open and closed a business, and I would NEVER have thought I would end up doing this full time!
{2} What do influencers do that I hate?
Since I have been doing this long enough, I hate a few things! When influencers mock-up “ads” or make things look sponsored or free. The “fake” news puts a bad image on all of us. And I think we all need to be more real about things. I don’t ever want a reader to feel bad about who they are, what they have from following me.
The other things are when certain influencers don’t support each other. From sharing each other to tagging each other, let’s all spread the word about each other to do better! Some influencers hate tagging each other or do it tiny so that their followers may not follow – I find it ridiculous.
{3} What are my 3 favorite things in my closet?
My first Chanel bag (it’s a patent bag with a handle, you’ve seen it on my Instagram). I got this bag probably around 2003 in the Paris Chanel store. It was $800 and I was in love
My Louis Vuitton special edition bag from Mykonos last year. It is a more recent buy, but I LOVED my trip last year with my best friend and it reminds me of my single life and being able to make decisions on my own.
My first pair of Louboutins were actual a pair of espadrilles in my shoe closet. Pink and tie up the leg, they are comfortable and it was something I bought myself in the early 2000’s as well to treat myself. I couldn’t afford the heels and felt like these were so cute and I still have them years later!
What I love about designer items is that they really do last a lifetime. All three items will remain in my wardrobe forever. Clothing to me is more disposable and I don’t like to spend too much on each item.
{4} What type of man am I looking for?
I want a physical and emotional connection with a man. Having both has been an issue. And plus dating, in general, is hard. It’s too many choices and it feels like everyone is dating at disposal. I definitely need someone comfortable with my lifestyle, my strong personality, but I also want a partner and a great communicator. I love affection, laughter, fun, motivation, kindness, and thoughtfulness. Know someone? Let me know (lol).
{5} Worst date story?
I have too many but overall let me summarize a bunch:
Men who attack my face with their mouth
A date who lied about his age by ten years and slept with strippers
A date who had my photo as his iPhone screensaver
I bumped into my whole family on a date (worst feeling), not a bad date, just scarring lol.
A date who cried twice regarding his ex’s and then called me not vulnerable enough.
{6} Age range of guys I’ve gone on a date with the last two years
Youngest is 34. Oldest is 56. What I prefer is 35-40 and typically has kids. It is definitely easier to date someone with kids and that has gone through a divorce.
{7} Favorite thing about being a mom (or boy mom)?
I never knew the love I have for my kids existed. I care for them more than myself and most of my decisions in life are surrounded by how I can make sure they are ok. Regarding boys, man oh man, they are so different from me, but they’ve taught me more about how boys think (simpler, more about now) and I’ve been introduced to a world of toys I never played with (cars, superheroes, video games).
{8} Why do you dress up so often?
My mom was a fashionista and had my sister and I dress up often as kids. By the time I was in high school, I loved fashion and styling myself. I see style, apparel, and accessories as a huge passion, (as one might see sports or art), so to me, it isn’t just about dressing up. I LOVE just looking at inspiration style, learning about fabrics, fits, prints, and how to put stuff together. When I’m put together, I feel good inside and out. I definitely have casual days, but my favorite days of all are the ones where I get to get dressed up!
{9} Do you have tattoos and how many?
I have two (one on my ankle and one on my back). I don’t love both and am thinking about changing them but since I don’t know what I would change it to, they have remained the same. A heart on my ankle, a butterfly on my back. I’d love to get my kids initials on me somewhere!
{10} Three words to describe me and three traits I don’t love in others.
Loyal, passionate, and funny (to describe me)
Liars, selfish, and fake people
{11} What are the best part of your job and least favorite part?
The best part is the people I’ve met and the experiences I’ve been offered. Great friends, amazing trips and fabulous partnerships. I never thought blogging and doing social media would enable me to have this life.
The least favorite part is feeling like I can’t go offline, some lost friendships due to my job, and at times it’s hard to date due to this job. I don’t have privacy and men don’t understand my job, so I guess it makes it harder!
{12} When’s the last time I cried?
To be honest, a few days ago I cried for a while. I felt alone (my kids were with their dad), I’m worried about my job and how to pay the bills, and although it looks perfect online and I’m usually a very positive person, I just worry about everything going on. I am sure you guys feel the same.
{13} What do you feel are your best and worst features?
I’ll answer for inside and out!
Best inside: extremely loyal and loving
Best outside: My legs
Worst inside: my stubbornness
Worst outside: I hate my lower stomach
{14} Do you see yourself moving out of Chicago?
YES! But overall, my kids are first (they go to school here and ex is from here) and #2, depends on work and my love life. I am very open to moving again and would love to be back on the west coast in California. I miss the weather and the people.
{15} What’s the best piece of advice you can give to another woman?
Live life, love life, and pursue things with a passion. Don’t wait to do things and speak to yourself kindly or how you would speak to your friend. Everything is possible and you just need to believe it! That’s more than just one thing but I believe in all that for myself and want that for others.
