I love seeing or reading about people’s daily habits/routines and because I work for myself, I get asked how I balance my days. These are the 10 things I do every day to motivate myself and are easy to do. The first two have really helped me as a single mom. Sometimes, life can get a bit lonely, and having time to write it out helps me see that life is great and calms my anxious side down.
You’ll find that these tips are easy to implement into your own life. Remember, YOU ARE THE CEO of your own life, so make those choices to wake up and kick ass.

{1} Journal
Crop top | Sunglasses $10 | Crystal necklace
I have done this off and on in my life, but in the past year, journaling has been a game-changer. I’ll go back and see how far I’ve come. It helps me jot down my worries and my thoughts before I go to bed. In addition, I write down what I’m thankful for so when I go to bed, I am rested with thankful thoughts.
For me, it’s my form of therapy. Even if you write something small or do it once a week. It is extremely helpful.
{2} Affirmations
I’ve been sharing these lately and wrote a blog post with 20 Self Love Affirmations you can pin or screenshot to remember. I start every single day with at least 3 affirmations to motivate myself. I’ve learned through this journey in life, you have to love yourself in order to be in a healthy relationship.
Some may do intentions as well – I do a combination of both. Set a tone and it really impacts your day.
{3} Vitamins and Green Superfood Juice
I take my daily vitamins from Ritual (10% off with code 10JEN) and this month I started doing this every day. . . taking my Teami Blends Green Superfood Powder (RED20 for 20% off). Both help me with self-care and making sure my body feels good inside and out. I drink my superfood powder with a glass of water first thing in the morning and I feel more energy and less bloating.
Self-care has been a huge priority in my life for the past few years. Taking care of myself from affirmations to vitamins, to beauty has helped boost my happiness.
{4} Make My Bed
I love my bedroom (full bedroom details here) and making my bed helps me start the day with a simple accomplishment. I try to keep my bedroom clean, but the bed is my #1 thing I love to start the day with. Neatly putting together the sheets, fluffy pillows and walking away with it looking pretty makes me happy.
The bedlinens (as seen in the photo) and my current towels are from Brooklinen (use code RED20 for $20 off an order $100+)
(5) Get ready for the day
If you watch me on stories, you know I try to get ready with make-up on daily. I give myself 1-2 days where I don’t wear make-up, but getting ready makes me happy. I choose different outfits to wear like I’m headed to work. Since I’ve been working for myself for nearly 10 years, this routine has kept me on task and motivated. To me, looking like shit makes me feel like shit. Feeling pretty makes me feel good. Plus if I have to run errands or have a meeting or a zoom conference, I’m already ready for it.
{6} Make lunch and have favorites for dinner

I typically eat lunch at home, it helps me save money and when I have my kids, I make most of the meals at home. Cooking also is something I learned during quarantine and I feel accomplished when I make a great meal! Dinner is my favorite meal of the day so I tend to make our favorites or order something nice as I love to sit down with my kids and eat. Food is a love of mine and makes me happy as well. As you can see, the trend to motivating me, is to make sure the things I do make me happy!
{7} Call/Text a friend(s)
My friends are my everything. Since I don’t have family live nearby and as you guys know, I’m single, my girlfriends will always be my support and backbone. Talking to them makes me happy and the close circle I have are my friends for life. I strive to be a great friend and value those that do the same. Surround yourself with great people.
{8} Organize, email, calendar reviews and lists
This is a necessity in my life. After my affirmations, making my bed, vitamins, and superfood routine, I sit down at my laptop and notebook and write out every single thing I need to do. After that, I review my calendar for any meetings or deadlines that are coming up. Emails are a constant.
{9} Beauty routine
My daily skin regime is very important to me. I’ve been extremely dedicated to it morning and night and to me, it shows in my face. I have acne-prone combination skin and since taking care of it, it is so much better and I do feel a youthful glow. The two brands I’ve been dedicated to are Tula (REDSOLES to get 15% off) and Elemis
Morning: I use the rose glow eye balm (man I love this stuff) and the primer before makeup (both Tula); SPF as well as this is a must!
Night: I switch from Tula face wash and my Elemis Cleansing Balm (obsessed). The nights I use Tula facewash I end with the 24-hour moisturizer. With Elemis, I LOVE the Superfood facial oil.
I wake up refreshed and skin glowing. Trust me – take care of your skin!
{10} Something that brings me joy
From dancing by myself in my home to watching an episode of Sex & the City, I try to do something daily that brings me joy. We all deserve a snippet or hours of happiness daily. These little things make the day better.
These 10 things motivate me throughout the day. I have bad days for sure, it may not seem like it, but these things keep me in check and have built my inner strength. I create the life I want and I control the narrative.
