This post was sponsored by Pantene, but all opinions are my own.
I often get questions about my haircare routine and was honored to partner with Pantene on this post. I’ll be answering some of your questions, diving into some key haircare tips, and how my background (heritage) has made a huge impact on me and my routine.
Since I was a little girl, I’ve used Pantene. My mom bought it for me, she used it and taught me about beauty and self-care at a very early age. She has inspired me inside and out on taking care of myself and my fashion sense all stemmed from my mama!
As I’ve aged and gone through stages I’ve used a variety of Pantene’s product lines and these days, the Pantene Nutrient Blends Miracle Moisture Boost with Rose Water Collection (shampoo, conditioner, Petal sSoft hair treatment) is in my weekly routine. I’m sure you’ve seen that my hair is colored and I’ve been dyeing it for years. Pantene’s Nutrient Blends Collection keeps my hair healthy, shiny, and hydrated. The Miracle Moisture Boost Collection with Rose Water is free of sulfates, parabens, dye, and mineral oil. Affordable haircare with benefits that keep my hair shiny and healthy is amazing. Plus, I LOVE ROSES!
Self-care to me is also focusing on my skincare and hair routine! Focusing on myself inside and out has increased my happiness and I hope the tips I give often on my blog, motivate you to do so too.
I’m happy to answer some frequently asked questions and a few about my heritage below and hope you like learning a bit more about me!
Who inspires my beauty/hair routine?
My mom has been my fashion and beauty inspiration my whole life. She taught me how to find my own style, to dress up, and has been on me for years to take care of my skin and hair. She looks like my sister because she takes such good care of herself.
As a little girl, I watched her put on skincare every night, dye her own hair, condition, blowout, curl, and take care of herself. She would remind me about taking care of myself and show me products she loved often. Pantene has been a part of our household as early as I can remember. I still can’t believe I do what I do and get to share things I love for a living. Partnering with Pantene several times has been a dream.
What type of hair do you have and how does this tie into your heritage?
I have coarse Asian hair that is thick. When dyed it can be dry, frizzy, and unhealthy looking. Since I have very black straight hair dyeing it blonde strips away the color and can make it brittle and dry. In addition, I blow dry and curl my hair. Growing up, I had the healthiest shiny black hair that was thick and luscious.
What are the biggest tips you have for haircare?
Don’t wash your hair all the time! 1-2 times a week is enough and it trains your hair to last longer. I started doing this over a year ago and my hair looks healthier and gets less oily. I’m telling you, train it to maintain itself. My mom taught me this too.
I wash my hair at night with the Miracle Moisture Boost with Rose Water Shampoo, which provides gentle cleansing to leave dry hair feeling soft and not stripped, and try to let it air dry before bed. Less damage on my hair with heat and I can wake up and get ready faster.
I do a deep conditioning treatment (The Pantene Nutrient Blends Miracle Moisture Boost Petal Soft Hair Treatment with Rose Water ) once a week. I love how silky my hair feels after deep conditioning in the shower. It can be used in place of the Rose Water Conditioner on your wash days. Just let it soak in for a few minutes before rinsing.
Have you or do you have extensions?
I have had extensions before but not now. This is all my hair! I take great care of my hair and It grows quickly. Vitamins and hair care products.
What are your tips for haircare for a busy mom?
If you have the budget, get a professional cut or color. You’ll feel amazing leaving the salon. I do every time!
Wash your hair at night (like I mentioned above); I know how mornings go, the kids get up and time flies, taking a shower and doing your hair just doesn’t happen. So when the kids go to bed, take a bath or shower, I let my hair air dry or lightly blow dry it, but I prefer not fully dry it to lessen any damage.
Find a cut that is pleasing to you that is easy to maintain. I love my long hair but it does take a bit more time. I prioritize getting ready, but if you want an easier day-to-day routine, play around with length and I find a mid-length is super easy to take care of.
On days you don’t wash your hair, what do you do?
Minimal products – to me using great products to wash my hair keeps me from having to do too much after wash. I will curl my hair on days 2-3 and simply comb my hair in the mornings. I don’t pull on my hair too much and use clips when at home. I find hair ties pull my hair too much and I like to minimize damage on my ends.
Do you do balayage or highlights?
I have highlights and have been highlighting my hair since college! Find a great stylist who knows how to treat your hair.
