I recently went back to Aspen for 4 nights and had a blast. If you love to ski and like a more bougie place – Aspen is the place to be in the Winter. As we all know, winter outfits can be bulky and take up so much room! A few tips for packing:
1) Preplan your outfits so you know exactly what you are wearing head to toe to avoid overpacking.
2) Vaccum seal your larger items, I sealed all my coats and larger sweaters.
3) Use compression packing cubes, OMG, these were a life hack I wish I had used earlier. I can’t believe I’ve never used these in the past when I’ve been traveling for 3 years straight once a month. YOU GUYS NEED TO BUY THESE.
An additional note, due to the altitude, I had a headache for the first day or so. If you drink, take the electrolytes I’ve linked – they are a lifesaver.
The coat is on major sale at $39! I essentially brought two pairs of ski pants (the ivory and the black) and leggings and they worked for the whole trip! Moon boots are a lifesaver and not only do your feet stay dry and warm, but the boots also have traction in the snow.
This exact faux fur sweater cardigan is from Akira. Shop it here. It’s super warm and luxe-looking. Akira is affordable and always has cute styles for going out. I’m wearing a catsuit (also styled it 6 ways here) it was a great item to bring with as you can wear it day to night.
I wore this last year as well – the jacket is functional as I went skiing in it and my Ski sweater was a favorite until I shrunk it in the wash! FYI; don’t wash it – just lightly handwash – it is wool! Or best advice – buy the dupe I’ve linked :).
I got my Dior sweater in Paris (much less in Europe) but I’ve linked some similar styles and once you again the red puffer is a great style piece for winter.
What I wore at night – leggings and my Moon boots are a staple, this corset top is one of my favorite brands. I do size up to a medium in all their corsets.
This sparkly top is a favorite, I’ve worn it a few times. At night I dressed up with just my tops and a fab coat and stuck with leggings and boots to be comfortable.
I LOVE ASPEN and hope these outfit ideas help you plan for your next ski trip.
Some favorite spots in Aspen I highly recommend:
Affordable Stay: Hotel Durant, the location was superb. It’s right by the buses to go to the mountains to ski, very close to St Regis and all the shopping and restaurants. We walked everywhere and there was no need for a car the entire stay. We got the most inexpensive room, the room was small but we didn’t mind as the price is so much better than the other hotels nearby. We weren’t in our room a ton. Breakfast is included which is also a perk.
Luxury Stay: St Regis or Hotel Jerome would be my dream destination stays (but this mama didn’t have that budget)
Dining: My favorites!
Clark’s Aspen Oyster Bar, I LOVE seafood and the vibe of this restaurant. We went twice as I love it so much. Their clam chowder is AMAZING. I made a ressie the first night but it wasn’t needed both times we went. During busier times a ressie is recommended.
Betula Aspen and Casa Tua, both places are trendy and yummy. The interiors are pretty as well. Definitely make ressies ahead of time so that you can guarantee a spot.
Snowlodge Aspen in the St Regis , was our favorite, my boyfriend also raved about the food. The interiors are so pretty and many nights there is a singer/piano player and at night DJ’s rule the booth with a cute dance floor. We came back for drinks at the end of the week and had so much fun. When I came to Aspen the first time with friends, we hung out here nightly!
Skiing: We did Snowmass two days in a row and I did Snowmass last time as well. Great for beginner and intermediate skiers and the runs are long.
I absolutely love Aspen and plan on going again next year.
