Have you ever wondered what “old money fashion” really means? Think traditional, classic, and conservative. “Old money” aesthetic isn’t a new trend, but I’ve seen it pop up more and more this year and as I get older, I’m gravitating towards chic, simple, dressing that looks luxurious.
When it comes to clothing, old money fashion is all about quality over quantity. It’s better to invest in a few high-end pieces that will last a lifetime than to buy trendy fast fashion that will fall apart after a few washes. Simple and elegant pieces are the name of the game, with classic cuts and luxurious fabrics like silk, cashmere, and wool. These days though you don’t have to spend a ton (I tend to spend more money on shoes and handbags to elevate looks). You’ll see below a bunch of styles that give the look at a more affordable price but can be worn for years.
The color palette tends to be muted, with neutrals like navy, gray, and beige dominating. Prints and patterns are kept to a minimum, with the occasional polka dots or stripes making appearances. Accessories are kept minimal and understated, with timeless pieces like pearl necklaces and leather loafers being popular choices.
Overall, old-money fashion is less about standing out and more chic simple dressing. It’s about embodying a certain level of sophistication and refinement that money can’t buy. It’s a fashion style that has stood the test of time and continues to be relevant today.
